For your general information, here is some background on our convention:

Loscon enjoys an attendance of 1300-plus members from around the globe, and is a well-established gathering point for people interested in science fiction and fantasy.  Attendees and speakers include authors, artists, scientists, educators, and film and media professionals, who participate in programming items including lectures, panels and round table discussions in a broad range of fields.  Topics range from the latest developments at NASA and JPL to breakthroughs in physics, astronomy and biotechnology, and speculation about the future or fantasy worlds featured in popular works ranging from comics to literature to film and television.  To balance the academic nature of our programming, evening events are more social in nature; Regency-period recreation and Rock-and-Roll dances, gala live theater productions, an Ice Cream Social and a Masquerade all help to promote fellowship among the convention members.  We offer a separate track of children's programming, with panels and activities tailored to their education and interests.   The convention also strives to provide service and support to the community by hosting drives for causes such as Locks of Love (which provides real-hair hairpieces for children undergoing chemotherapy/radiation), a Blood Drive for the American Red Cross, and a Toy Drive to provide gifts for underprivileged children during the holiday season.

If you have any questions about our convention, call (818) 760-9234 and I or another member of our Community Relations team would be pleased to speak to you.  Or you may contact me directly at (310) 908-4332.

We appreciate your support!

Cordially,

Shawn Crosby
