VOLUNTEERS at LOSCON 30
Question. What would Loscon, or any other convention,
be like without volunteers?
Answer. Much smaller, with less programming.
There's just no way the committee and staff can run a convention without the help of the convention membership. As always, Loscon needs your help, before, during and after the convention to keep things running smoothly.
Volunteering at Loscon has its rewards. One of them is learning more about the convention, and how conventions get put together and run. Not only do you have the satisfaction of knowing you've helped make the convention a success, there will be the traditional spiffs, only available to volunteers. In keeping with the convention's theme, they will be travel related and at least one will be both valuable and imported.
The number of hours required for a Pass-on Membership cannot be reported at this time, it is based on total Convention Membership and thus can only be calculated Post-Con.
Extra Credit Hours:
Pre-con and Post-con work (like loading or unloading the truck) counts DOUBLE toward pass-on membership hours. (Note: pre-con and post-con hours are not doubled toward spiffs, just toward pass-on memberships)
Check with the Volunteers coordinator when you arrive at the convention, or be sure to find out who is tracking pre-con and post-con hours if you help out before and/or after the convention. Volunteers will be located at the Information kiosk (see Hotel Layout Page for location details).
