Dan DeLong

Dan DeLong, one of XCOR’s founders and its chief engineer, has 25 years experience developing prototype and one-of-a-kind hardware.   He is responsible for the engineering design for five generations of rocket engines and associated test equipment.   He was a co-founder of Rotary Rocket Co, where he served as propulsion chief engineer.   Previous to Rotary he developed and tested rocket engine hardware for Kistler’s K-0 vehicle.   Dan spent 10 years in Huntsville, Alabama, where he worked on Space Station life support hardware and company internal development projects for Boeing, and Space Shuttle payload hardware for Teledyne Brown, where he developed the Spaceplane and Frequent Flyer launch vehicle concepts.   Dan was employed in the underwater vehicle development industry from 1974 through 1983.   His experience includes development of military and commercial life support hardware for Westinghouse in Annapolis, MD, and manned and unmanned vehicle systems design for Perry Oceanographics in Riviera Beach, FL.   He has a BS degree in engineering from Cornell University.
