LOSCON 30 GUEST BIO

Deborah J Ross (Deborah Wheeler)

I grew up mostly in California and Oregon, grew my hair long and protested everything during the sixties.   It took me three academic degrees (bachelors in biology, masters in psychology, doctorate in chiropractic) to figure out that the true "work of my heart" was storytelling.   I've also studied martial arts, lived in France (an "alien-encounter" if there ever was one), and become a single working mom.   Writing as Deborah Wheeler, I published two sf novels, JAYDIUM and NORTHLIGHT, as well as short stories in ASIMOV'S, FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION, STAR WARS: TALES FROM JABBA'S PALACE, SISTERS OF THE NIGHT, SWORD & SORCERESS and the DARKOVER anthologies.   My most recent project is a Darkover trilogy with the late Marion Zimmer Bradley: THE FALL OF NESKAYA (DAW 2001), ZANDRU'S FORGE (2003) with A FLAME IN HALI in progress.   My story, "Heart-Healer," appears in the DAW 30th Anniversary Fantasy Anthology.
