LOSCON 30 GUEST BIO

Mark London Williams

Mark London Williams is the author of the "Danger Boy" time travel adventure books for middle grade readers, in the 8-14 year old age range.   The books recount the adventures of Eli Sands, a 12 year-old living in the year 2019, and his barnstorming, if inadvertent, journeys through history, in the company of Clyne, a junior high school- age dinosaur, and Thea, a 13 year-old scientist rescued from the library at ancient Alexandria, in the series' opening.

Initially released by Tricycle Press, the first "Danger Boy" book, Ancient Fire, made the LA Times' children's bestseller list, the "A-List" of Disney's Family Fun magazine, and was nominated for a Golden Duck Award - a junior version of the Hugo and Nebula awards for excellence in children's science fiction and fantasy.   The second book, Dino Sword, similarly made the LA Times' bestsellers.

Currently, both books are set for a major rerelease in 2004 from Candlewick Press, one of the largest children's publishers in both the U.S. and U.K.   Williams is also writing the third "Danger Boy" book for Candlewick, and planning an additional series whose books he can alternate with "Danger Boy" titles.

In addition to writing books, Williams has also scripted video games, for Activision, and comic books, for Mojo Press and DC.   As a journalist, he's contributed to publications ranging from Variety, to the LA Business Journal, Industry Standard and others.   He is also a frequent guest at school literature fairs and book festivals.
