Sheila Finch teaches English literature and creative writing at El Camino College in Torrance; she has published seven science fiction novels, more than thirty short stories, and a number of articles about science fiction.   Her novella, "Reading the Bones," won a Nebula in 1998; this novella plus new material continuing the story will be published by Tachyon Press in September '03.   Also coming this year is a novel about communications satellites and alien contact, BIRDS, from Wildside Press.   Sheila lives in Long Beach with a cat and a retired racing greyhound.
