LOSCON 30 GUEST BIO

Anne Calpernia Morrel

A BS in Philosophy, a MS in Religion and an avid collector of everything Science Fiction or Fantasy.   This Life Member of LASFS, Editor of the LASFS Children's Science Fiction and Fantasy Reading List, Member of Fabric Fondlers, and Lounge Lizard Supreme has one admitted weakness.   Costuming.   She learned to sew at her mother's knee, because she wanted to wear wonderful clothes.   After filling up closets with them as she grew up and out of them, she discovered Costume Books and collected them.  After seeing the fabulous outfits at local SF Conventions were being discouraged, she decided that that was wrong.   She designed and wore an exact duplicate of the Frolo costume from "Hunchback of Notre Dame" and got a Hall Costume award for it.   Recognition was such a great experience that she took the job over and for the last four years has given out Hall Costume Awards to others.   It started with 10 awards the first year, and was over 130 awards last year.   This year she's not only going to give out awards (200?), but talk about how to get them.
