Chairman's Message - By Ed Green

Closer and closer! The summer's over and the committee is working at a faster pace to get all the neat events finished! I think the biggest problem we're going to have is there's too many good things being planned! I know you're all going to have a great time. I've had a great time traveling to cons all over the West Coast, advertising LOSCON and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again in November!

Vice-Chairman's Message - By Liz Mortensen

Whew! It's been a long summer! We've been to so many cons with Loscon this year...

Loscon flew to Westercon 50 in Seattle this past July, where we sponsored a Trivia Contest. Congratulations to our Grand Prize Winner, L.F. Berven, who won two memberships to Westercon 51 in San Diego next year. We also served ice cream at our room party Friday night, and at our Dead Dog party on Sunday we had lots of mun-chies, silly toys and hourly raffles! Speaking of raffles, our winners for Westercon were: cheap marketing ploy, drawing #1, "How To Host A Star Trek Mystery Game" - Alicia Austin; drawing #2, Mars Attacks toy - Mary Smith. Membership raffle, 1st Place, Mars Attacks toy - Todd Allis; 2nd Place, hotel room upgrade to a suite - James Briggs.

We also chatted up Loscon at LoneStarCon 2 in San Antonio this year. We passed out flyers, talked to people, and plotted to bring you more parties! There are a lot of bids and cons coming to Loscon this year - so make sure you save some time Friday and Saturday nights! Then Loscon went to CopperCon 17 in Phoenix (thanks to the Indy 500 pit crew of Christian McGuire, Sherri Benoun and Mike Donahue). Another festive party - more raffles - and this time our winner, a free upgrade to a suite, is Pat Connors.

And speaking of raffles - don't forget to reserve your room right away! There's a special raffle for those of you who do (details below). And hey, as I'm Chairman of Vice anyway, let me add a second place prize to the raffle: an autographed copy of Destiny's Road by Larry Niven. Now you've got two chances to win - so get those hotel cards in!

In closing, I'd like to say I've met a lot of great people over the last couple of months and had a lot of fun. I hope to see many of you again in November!
