LASFS Returns to North Hollywood!  Starting November 2, 2017, LASFS will be holding its Thursday night meetings at 10717 Chandler Blvd. (rear), North Hollywood 91601, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The building is located between Denny Ave. and Cartwright Ave.  Entrance is from the alley in back.  Going east from Denny Ave. along the alley, it is the second building. Parking is available in front on Chandler Blvd. and on the west side of Denny Ave. Parking is prohibited north of the alley on the east side of Denny Ave.

There are comfy couches for people who want to sit and talk before or after the meeting proper.  There is one restroom.

We will be allowed to bring in personal food and drink - NO communal food table.  We must police our own trash.

We are renting the meeting space from Null Space Labs, the local maker group.
House rules:  No playing with the toys!  There is quite a lot of equipment in the room.  Leave it be.

October, 2017: On Thursday, October 19th & 26th, the LASFS will continue meeting in Robert Boyle Studio 800 on the first floor of the Art Directors Guild (ADG) building at the corner of Ventura Blvd., and Radford.

We are responsible for setting up and putting away chairs and tables.

Nothing will be left behind or stored on the property.

No food will be allowed in the building. Drinks are ok. The water cooler is off limits, as are any random bottles of Sparklett’s water.

No opening of random doors. The club has use of the meeting room, the hallway, and the bathrooms.

None of the media equipment, nor the wifi, are available for club use.

There are no other days or times where the space is available. Please do not ask.

The liaisons between the LASFS and the ADG are Christian B. McGuire, and Elayne Pelz. All questions, comments, and your .02 must go through them.

PARKING:  LASFS MEMBERS CANNOT ENTER THE PARKING LOT BEFORE 6:30 PM. NO NOT EVEN YOU. NO.

The parking lot is accessible from Radford Blvd. through an alley behind the ADG building. The lot is the first gated lot on the south side of the alley. Pull up to the parking card reader; on the bottom of the reader is a black button - press the button and the parking gate will open. Fill in the spaces starting from the Ventura Blvd side of the lot. If the lot is full you can also find parking along the alley, metered parking on Ventura Blvd., and the local streets.
Yes your car can remain in the parking lot until you are done after-meeting at Du-pars'

If you park across the street where the Trader Joe's market is, your car may be towed. They have two guys with chalk markers and cell phones diligently looking for cars that have been parked there longer than reasonable.

Du-par’s Restaurant and Bakery is across the street and open 24 hours and can be used for after meetings.  In case the ADG space is unavailable, an alternative meeting may be held there. Everyone will have to order at least a drink.

All other regularly scheduled events at the LASFS building are suspended until further notice..

The (unofficial) LASFS newsletter is De Profundis.

The new phone number for LASFS info is (818) 246-2552.

The LASFS meeting begins around 8:00 PM, every Thursday night, but there's usually something going on before then.

Visitors may attend three free meetings. After that, we'll decide they must like it here and ask them to fill out a membership form and pay a $10 membership fee. OLASFS Librarynce you've joined, there is no need to renew — ever. (Dues are required each time you attend a meeting, though monthly and annual rates are available.)  Dues are also required if you attend an open house or any other "non-paid event" on a weekend day.

(The LASFS Library has been packed up.  Our loss of the clubhouse means we no longer have open houses.)
The following paragraph currently does not apply.  Members can borrow books from our lending library. LASFS events include Friday night open house and gaming, the Second Sunday social day, seasonal holiday parties, and our annual gift exchange.

Work Parties
At the January, 2012 Board meeting, the LASFS' Board of Directors proposed that kids too young to contribute to the work not be allowed on the premises during any work parties at the LASFS. This was Moved, Seconded, and Passed with one abstention.

Aftermeeting
After the meeting is over, some members go out for more conversation over a late dinner or midnight snack. We call this the "aftermeeting". Aftermeetings are now being held at at Du-Pars near the ADG.-- or at the less expensive and friendlier Mel's Drive-in, 14846 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403, (818) 990-6357.  Ask members who are leaving the meeting where they're heading.
