This was passed with six abstentions. A committee was formed to come up with changes to the Standing Rules.

Joe Zeff proposed cooking rules for LASFS competitions. It was moved and seconded to accept Joe’s proposal with the amendment that the word “indoors” be added to it. It passed with 2 abstentions. Below is the proposal:

Proposed policy for indoor cooking competitions at LASFS

In order to allow members of the LASFS to indulge in such things as cooking competitions at the clubhouse with as little chance of inconveniencing other members as possible, the following policy is proposed:

For the purpose of this policy, cooking will be defined as “Original preparation and assembly of ingredients, including the application of heat.” This means that a chili cook-off is not covered by this policy as long as the entries are prepared off-site and are only re-heated at the club. Also, any competition that does not include the application of heat or only involves the addition of hot water is not covered.

As the intent of this policy is to avoid problems caused either by cooking fumes, or the side effects of airing out the building, it is proposed that such events only be allowed during regularly scheduled club events between the months of April and October, inclusive. Events of this kind that are held on days that the building is not normally open may be held at any time the planners and the club prefer.

Proposed change to by-laws  (Eylat Poliner): Marty Cantor, Eylat Poliner, and Marcia Minsky were appointed a committee to prepare the proper wording for the rules governing the job of vice-president.

Polling place? (Karl Lembke) there was a discussion about the possibility of opening the club for public voting. A vote was held on this and the Board decided to not do this.

Donation to the club (Michelle Pincus) Sandra Stoller has gifted us with quite a few aerospace posters.

80th Anniversary plans? (Michelle Pincus) We had a preliminary discussion of this proposed anniversary celebration.

Closed session: This was very short, it taking longer for the room to clear than for the meeting itself.

Open Forum:

Wants to hold another meeting of the L.A. PostgreSQL Users Group on July 2 for $35. The Board agreed to this.

The next meeting of the Board will be July 14, 2013.

Taken Away from previous meetings:

Adjournment: The Board adjourned its meeting at 12:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Marty Cantor, Board Secretary
