THE LASFS BUILDING FUND was first suggested November 21, 1963 by Paul Turner.  The minutes of that meeting read in part:

Paul said that the LASFS needs a permanent meeting place more than anything else, and now that we've got money in the treasury, we ought to do something "concrete" toward obtaining such a place.  He proposed putting $200 from the treasury into a clubhouse fund, to be deposited in a savings account and added to as practical through auctions, parties, etc.....For $6000 we could have a permanent meeting place," he said.

After considerable discussion, Bruce Pelz made the formal motion....Dave Fox seconded.  The motion was carried "unanimously," though some members abstained.

The vote to buy the building at 11360 Ventura Blvd. was taken on August 16, 1973 with the Building Fund at $26,570.18.  Since the building cost $32,000, additional funds were raised by incurring debts of $3,000 to Elmer Perdue and $2,000 each to LACON and Milt Stevens.  The building itself was legally owned by the Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society, Incorporated.

The second LASFS Clubhouse was on 11513 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood, CA, 91601.

The third LASFS Clubhouse is at 6012 Tyrone Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91401. Our first meeting was September 1, 2011.
